Professor Joy Adamson
- Co-Chief Investigator
- University of York
- [email protected]
Joy is a social scientist by background; her qualifications have put her in the rare position of having in-depth training in both qualitative (PhD) and quantitative (MSc Epidemiology) methods that Joy has applied in a range of applied health research projects. Having won a prestigious MRC post-doc Special Training Fellow award she experienced high quality training as part of the MRC’s vision for the development of outstanding researchers for multi-disciplinary collaborative working. Joy has utilised this and demonstrated a long-standing ability to carry out internationally outstanding applied health research.
Joy has worked with many UK collaborators (University of Glasgow, UCL, Bristol, UWE, LSHTM, LSE, Newcastle and HYMS) on various topics including health of older people, illness behaviour, health services delivery and RCTs of a range of complex interventions.
Joy is currently Professor of Health Sciences and holds a Royal College of Surgeons Chair in Surgical Research.
