Statistical Analysis

We are analysing the impact of innovative models of care using HES ECDS data.

In this part of the study, we aim to understand how well different urgent and emergency care (UEC) services are performing across rural and coastal communities. Using data from hospitals, ambulance services, primary care, and other local services, we will look at key measures such as waiting times, hospital admissions, patient outcomes, and overall system efficiency.

We will analyse this information to see which types of UEC services are working well and which are under more pressure. Importantly, we will also compare sites to identify “positive deviance” – services that perform exceptionally well despite facing the same challenges as others – and understand the factors behind their success. We will also develop bespoke performance metrics for rural coastal UEC to ensure that comparisons reflect the specific contexts and challenges of these areas.
